Same studio, a different impression.

Mockup from listing photos · Concept project by Alihrupa · Virtual Staging · Makeover illustration

A mockup made from the public Airbnb listing photos of a studio apartment in Cengkareng. It is not a client project. The phone photos were first remade with AI as one professional photo, then only the loose layer was restyled, in two moods: Workcation and Warm Japandi.

One retouched photo of the bed and two makeover moods

The idea

In a studio, the bed is most of the room, and it is the first photo on the listing. The fixed parts stay as they are: the built-in wardrobe, the desk under the window, the window itself. What sets the impression is the loose layer on top: bedding, wall art, a chair, a lamp. Change only that layer, keep the room and the camera, and the same studio gives a different impression.

Why it looks this way

Retouch first, then restyle

A new style on top of a tilted phone photo still reads as a phone photo. So the room was first remade as a professional photo: camera at 110 cm, one-point perspective, verticals straight, the existing desk lamp switched on, no new lights. The AI worked from all four listing photos, and the new angle shows only what those photos show.

One camera, only the loose layer changes

Both moods are edits of the same retouched photo, so you compare style, not angle. Only loose items change: bedding, cushions, wall art, the desk chair, a lamp, plant pots. The wardrobe, desk, bed frame, window, curtains, door and floor stay where they are.

What guests are given stays

The folded towels on the bed are part of how the host welcomes guests, so they stay in all three images. Only things that ended up in the photo by accident were removed: the cables and the power strip on the desk.

Every small item named, with its count

In the first tests the AI added a second orange bolster, dropped the small bedside table and invented a bathroom behind the open door. So every small item is now named with its count and position, and the bathroom door is shown closed. When the second bolster kept returning, it was removed with one small, targeted edit.

Step by step

Scroll to move through it

  1. Phone photo. Taman Palem studio

    Step 1Daylight, as listed

    Phone photo

The first photo on the listing, taken from the door: the real room, and the reference for every step after it.

  2. Retouched. Taman Palem studio

Step 2Soft daylight, desk lamp on, 4800K

    Retouched

Remade as a professional photo from the foot of the bed, with the same room, bedding and towels.

  3. Workcation. Taman Palem studio

Step 3Same daylight, desk and reading lamps on

    Workcation

Built around the desk under the window: textured grey-and-white bedding, back cushions for sitting up, a clip-on reading lamp, an upholstered chair.

  4. Warm Japandi. Taman Palem studio

Step 4Same daylight, desk and paper lamps on

    Warm Japandi

Calm and warm: cream linen, a knitted throw, a paper lamp, an ink brush-stroke print, a light-wood chair.

Kept true to the place

  • The built-ins: wardrobe, desk under the window, bed frame and headboard, window and curtains, the AC controller on the wall, bathroom door, ceiling and floor tiles.
  • The folded pink and beige towels on the bed, in all three images.
  • In the retouched photo, the decor that belongs to the studio stays as listed: floral bedding, one orange bolster on the left, the sunset beach canvas, the two small teal pictures.
  • Removed, only because they were in the photo by accident: the cables and the power strip on the desk.
  • Changes the AI made without being asked, all loose decor: some shelf and desk items, and in Warm Japandi, two small leaf prints. They were left in because they are not part of the room.
  • No prompt asked to repaint the walls. The warm white balance (4800K) makes them read a little creamier than in the phone photos.
  • Labels: all three images are made with AI and labelled Virtual Staging, the retouched one included. The two moods are a makeover preview for the host, fit for the listing only once the decor is really in the room.
